HIS DEATH CERTIFICATE! Child Battling With Tuberculosis Series 3

Having seen the condition at the Juvenile Remand Home, I discussed the experience with my friends so we bought 4 litters of Disinfectant and washing soap to donate at the home on our next visit.

Returning back to the home the following week, I asked for the officer in charge but the kids told me he took one of the children to the hospital. I planned waiting for him but after waiting for an hour, I gave the gift I brought to the kids and decided to take my leave.

I was on my way leaving when one of the children come running after me that the officer- Mr Kolawole is back. I had no choice but to go back. After exchanging greetings with him, I asked after the welfare of the child he took to the hospital and he pointed at a corner, I didn’t understand what he was saying so I asked again. Then he pointed at a big sack resting on the wall. Then he told me he carried the dead body of the child to the hospital to get his death certificate.

I was shocked to my bones .That was my first experience with death at the home but little did I know that that was just the beginning.

Let’s meet here same time next week when I will be letting it all out. Till then, keep keeping on. You’ll soon get there.

Your Friend,

Ma Funmi

Another child battling with tuberculosis.
